GREEN BAY, WI- Football fever took over Titletown on Thursday night as the NFL Draft campus surrounding Lambeau Field hit capacity less than an hour before the first pick was even announced.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell told the crowd that more than 125,000 fans packed the area early on. By night’s end, the league estimated the official Day 1 attendance at over 200,000—eclipsing the city of Green Bay’s population of 105,744, according to the latest U.S. Census Bureau numbers.
Along with watching the whole draft process unfold, fans get to see the Lombardi trophy, every Super Bowl ring and a little taste of Shawano with a Shawano made barn quilt on display.
LIVE MEDIA
National Media was all over Lambeau Field with live broadcasts of the first round. Former Packer Coach Mike McCarthy was spending the evening analyzing the draft.
