Several incidents kept Shawano Police busy on Wednesday. The day began early with two back-to-back disturbance calls—one on Acorn Street just after midnight, and another a few hours later on East Center Street. Officers responded to a report of an intoxicated man, refusing to leave a home. No open cases were found on Smith.
Later in the morning, officers were called to Lafayette Street where a man reported online harassment involving threats related to the dating site Ashley Madison. That incident remains under investigation.
At Prospect Circle, police conducted a welfare check using emergency location data. Multiple units responded and cleared the scene around 10:45 a.m.
In another case, a scam was reported at a local hotel. A victim paid over $400 for what turned out to be a fake rental listing—giving away sensitive info including a Social Security number.
On Estates Lane, a small dog was injured in a second attack by a neighbor’s aggressive 25-pound dachshund. That case is active.
Meanwhile, Shawano officers responded to reports of truancy, a civil matter involving property damage, and bail jumping by a suspect tied to a previous case.
Later in the afternoon, Bernard Doud was picked up on a warrant at Washington and Division Street.
And finally, an elderly homeless man was escorted safely into a local shelter by officers, and Green Bay Police collaborated with Shawano PD on a joint case later in the evening.
The Clintonville Police Department remained active around the clock on Wednesday.
The day began just before 1 a.m. with an animal nuisance reported on 9th Street. Officers followed up with extra patrols on Pickerel Point and Anne Street, and performed multiple business checks along South Main and Paulina Streets.
A welfare check was conducted on Flora Way early in the morning, and a traffic stop was initiated on Highway 22.
Later, police responded to a warrant call on Robert Street, and ambulances were dispatched to 10th and North 12th Streets for medical calls.
In the afternoon, officers addressed ordinance violations on Brix Street and investigated a suspicious person near South Main and Campus Drive.
Two motor vehicle crashes occurred—one on Harriet Street, the other on East Morning Glory Drive.
A shoplifting incident was reported on South Main, and officers assisted the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office on East Main Street.
Routine patrols and business checks continued late into the night.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office responded to 34 incidents on Wednesday, covering everything from animal problems and 911 calls to more serious situations involving explosives, harassment, and bail violations.
The day started just after midnight when a woman on Moh He Con Nuck Road turned herself in on a warrant, saying she missed a court date and had no ride to jail.
Shortly after, deputies responded to Pulaski, where a wounded deer was blocking a lane of traffic. Initially reported dead, the deer was still alive and had to be put down.
Harassment reports came from the jail, involving a no-contact order violation through letters. And in the early morning hours, a disturbance in Gresham led to deputies intervening in a domestic argument with a man pounding on a door and refusing to leave.
One of the more serious calls came from Shiocton, where a partial box of dynamite was found in a game farm’s basement during cleanup efforts. Authorities responded quickly to secure the area.
Throughout the day, deputies assisted in multiple fire-related calls, including a small grass fire near Leopolis and a residential call in Tigerton.
A pair of reckless driving complaints came in—one involving a driver speeding through Tigerton, and another near Highway 29. A report of a turkey collision with a pickup truck also made the log after it damaged the vehicle’s radiator.
Deputies also handled welfare checks, abandoned vehicles, and several 911 hang-up calls. One report led to the discovery of street signs found on private land, possibly stolen.
Later in the day, a dog bite in Shawano sent one person to the ER, described as a “really bad attack.” And late Wednesday night, a harassment complaint alleged threats and defamatory messages sent by a family member’s ex.
Shawano County deputies worked closely with fire crews, EMS, and other agencies throughout the day, ensuring public safety across rural and town areas.
