GILLETT, WI- Oconto County Emergency Dispatch received a report of a serious collision involving an ATV and an SUV on Shawano Line Road at Nelson Road in the Town of Gillett on Friday evening.
The call came in at approximately 7:00pm on October 25th.
Responding deputies found the ATV overturned on the road, with its operator, Thomas Roberts, 60, of Green Bay, lying nearby. The SUV involved, a silver 2007 GMC Acadia, showed front-end damage. Authorities identified the SUV driver as Obilio Thomas Sargento Robrelo, 32, of Gillett. Despite prompt emergency efforts, Roberts succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Robrelo fled on foot following the crash. After a multi-agency search, he was located and arrested at a hotel in Jacksonville, Arkansas. He is currently being held at the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility, awaiting extradition to Oconto County.
The Oconto County Sheriff’s Office expressed thanks to the various agencies involved in the search and arrest, including the Wisconsin State Patrol, Shawano County Sheriff’s Office, Green Bay Police Department, and Jacksonville Police Department in Arkansas.
The incident remains under investigation. The Sheriff’s Office also shared its deepest condolences with the Roberts family, honoring Thomas Roberts as a dedicated husband, father, and retired Green Bay Police Officer.
