SHAWANO, WI- Shawano Police Chief Brad Rabideau has announced that he will be retiring next year.
“I am looking at February 3, 2025,” Rabideau said on the WTCH Breakfast Club Friday.
He said more information about his decision and the process of replacing him will be coming at a later time, but he did say that the Police and Fire Commission will be looking to hire internally.
“Shawano Police Department is in a good place and we have several people who are qualified to do this job.”
He took over the Chief position in October of 2020.
Rabideau said the reason for the early announcement was to give time for the process to take place smoothly.
“My hope is that it allows for a transitional period where our department can maintain current course.”
Rabideau said he wants to be involved in working with the next chief before the change.
He said regardless, the future of the Shawano Police Department and the citizens of Shawano will be in good hands.
“I think you are going to see even better things in the future.”
