APPLETON, WI- The Bonduel Bears first trip to state was a short one as they fell to Kenosha St. Joseph 2-1 in the Division 3 Semifinal game on Tuesday.
The Lancers scored two runs in the first inning, with the first scoring on a deep fly ball and the second on a sacrifice ground out.
Bonduel scored in the third inning on back to back doubles by Easton Reinke and Noah Weier.
After giving up two runs in the first, Junior Cade Johnson shut down the bats of the Lancers the rest of the way, and pitched the complete game. Johnson gave up seven hits and struck out three on the losing end.
The Bears had their chances as they left bases loaded in the first, lined into a double play in the fifth and were caught stealing in the 6th inning.
In the fourth, Cade Johnson singled up the middle and stole second, advanced to third on a throwing error by the catcher. Colin Margelofsky hit a hard hit ball that was misplayed at third and recovered by the shortstop who completed the controversial play for the third out, preventing the run from scoring.
Both teams ended the game with seven hits. Bonduel finishes their season 23-4.
