Dennis P. Kuhn, age 83 of Shawano, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, June 6, 2024, at his home. Dennis was born in Shawano on May 12, 1941, a son of Paul and Margaret (Zoglman) Kuhn. He attended Stony Hill Country School and later, Lincoln Elementary School in Shawano. Dennis then attended Shawano High School, graduating with the Class of 1959. Following high school, he worked at Hotz Manufacturing for ten years. In 1969, Dennis went to work for Moede Plumbing as a service man, retiring in 2006 after 37 years of service. On August 26, 1961, Dennis was united in marriage to the former Diane Sazama at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Gresham. The couple made their home in Shawano. He was a good and faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano, serving as an usher and helping with the Parish picnic. Dennis was a volunteer fire fighter for 33 years. He is a past member of the Shawano Archery Club, Wisconsin Bowhunters, and Whitetails Unlimited. He loved hunting and fishing, especially for trout. Dennis and Diane enjoyed traveling together, and
occasionally stopped at the casino.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Diane Kuhn, of Shawano; his children, Dale (Suzy) Kuhn of Shawano, Doreen Kuhn of Cecil, and Darrin (Shasta) Kuhn of Shawano; his grandsons, Paul Kuhn of Williston, ND, Dylan Wolff of Cecil, Charlie Kuhn of New Brighton, MN, and Alex Kuhn of Shawano; his granddaughters, Lexy (Robert) Friebel of Kaukauna, and Jodie (Talan Hansen) Washkuhn of Kingsford, MI; and his great-grandchildren, Gordon, Robert, Nolan, Drayson, Penelope, and Isla. Dennis is further survived by his sister, Donna Hoffmann of Shawano; his brothers, Warren (Jan) Kuhn and Al (Gloria) Kuhn, both of Shawano; his sister-in-law, Sue Sazama of Eagle River; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Margaret Kuhn; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Anna Sazama; and his brother-in-law, Richard Hoffmann.
A Memorial Mass for Dennis will be celebrated on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. Fr. Edward Looney will be the Celebrant. Inurnment will be at the Sacred Heart Mausoleum in Shawano at a later date. Visitation will begin at the church at 9:00 am and continue until the time of Mass.
In lieu of flowers and plants, the family prefers memorials to Sacred Heart Catholic School or Compassus Hospice.
