SHAWANO, WI- State Representative Peter Schmidt (R-Bonduel) commended the approval of the Lieg Avenue pavement replacement project in Shawano by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT). The grant will facilitate the replacement of 13 blocks of pavement on Lieg Avenue, benefiting both commercial and residential traffic, including vital routes for Shawano Little Rapids Paper Mill and United Cooperative. The City of Shawano secured funds to cover approximately half of the project cost, with support from Rep. Schmidt. The project aligns with the 2023-2025 biennial state budget’s Local Road Improvement Program (LRIP), demonstrating collaborative efforts to address rural road infrastructure needs.
