NORTHEAST WI- State Senator Andre Jacque declared his candidacy for Congress, making the announcement this week. Representing the northeast portion of Wisconsin, Jacque, a Republican from De Pere, aims to succeed U.S. Representative Mike Gallagher, who disclosed on February 10 that he won’t seek re-election.
Jacque, known for his conservative stance and commitment to safeguarding the interests of his constituents, is set to face competition from former state Sen. Roger Roth, R-Appleton, in the race for Gallagher’s seat. The absence of an incumbent has set the stage for a potentially heated Aug. 13 Republican primary.
Despite the recent redistricting that shifted his residence to the 30th Senate District, Jacque continues to represent the 1st Senate District until the next scheduled election in 2026.
The 8th Congressional District spans Shawano, Oconto, Menominee, Brown, Calumet, Door, Kewaunee, Marinette, Outagamie, and Waupaca counties, along with a portion of Winnebago County. As Jacque launches his congressional bid, the focus turns to how the candidates will address the unique needs and concerns of this diverse array of counties in the heart of Wisconsin.
