GREEN BAY, WI- A 36-year-old man from Keshena, has been indicted in federal court on two counts of assaulting his domestic partner. The charges against Arrelio R. Escalante, stem from a violent episode on February 8, on the Menominee Indian Reservation, where Escalante is accused of physically assaulting a woman with whom he had a domestic relationship.
According to the indictment, Escalante allegedly punched and strangled the victim to the point of unconsciousness, causing severe injuries that include a broken nose and extensive bruising. The assault resulted in serious bodily harm, leading to Escalante facing one count of assault resulting in serious bodily injury and another count of domestic assault by strangulation.
Law enforcement authorities, including the Menominee Tribal Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), conducted a thorough investigation into the case. The indictment was officially filed on February 27, highlighting the severity of the alleged crimes.
If convicted on both counts, Escalante could be sentenced to a maximum of 20 years in prison, followed by a term of supervised release. The legal proceedings will unfold in federal court, and the future court dates and custody status of Escalante remain undisclosed as of Friday.
