FREEDOM, WI-Faheem Jones, 41, has been taken into custody in Milwaukee on Monday in connection with the death of 2-year-old Rosalie Garcia in Freedom. The arrest comes amid a series of charges, including possession with intent to deliver fentanyl, although no direct charges have been filed in connection to the toddler’s death. Prosecutors revealed that Brooke Seal, the child’s mother, allowed Jones to reside with them.
Jones appeared in court on Tuesday, and online court records detail the charges against him. The tragic incident unfolded on January 6 when Rosalie Garcia was discovered unresponsive in an apartment in Freedom. Officials later confirmed that the cause of her death was a fentanyl overdose.
During police questioning, Jones claimed to be at the building for laundry purposes. However, in the laundry room, law enforcement discovered a backpack containing a stolen firearm, ammunition, and a plastic bag with 1,414 pills testing positive for fentanyl.
Both Seal and Jones have been entangled in legal proceedings, and Seal is scheduled to appear in court on March 12. The unfolding case underscores the severity of the situation, shedding light on the tragic consequences of drug-related activities that have left a community grappling with the loss of a young life.
