WAUPACA, WI-In an incident on January 2nd, Corinne B. Lastofka, 40, from New London, faces charges of armed burglary, felony criminal damage to property, and disorderly conduct. Lastofka is accused of inflicting $4,660 worth of damage to her boyfriend’s car and belongings during a tumultuous episode.
The New London police responded to a call reporting a woman entering a residence on the 700 block of South Pearl Street, allegedly in search of a firearm. Officer Todd Sarazin arrived at the scene to find two vehicles in the driveway, with one obstructing the other, and two broken windows at the house.
The caller, seated in the front vehicle, informed Sarazin that Lastofka was inside the house. Sarazin observed Lastofka in the living room through one of the broken windows, with blood on her hands and neck. He ordered her to show her hands and approach, but Lastofka, visibly injured, collapsed on the floor.
Due to the locked door and Lastofka’s condition, Officer Mike Harlow forcefully entered the house. A folding knife was found on the floor near Lastofka, and an ambulance was requested for her.
Inside the residence, officers discovered blood on the walls, tipped-over items, and mounted hunting trophies pulled from the walls. The homeowner, who had been dating Lastofka for seven months, recounted an argument the previous day. Upon his return home at 8:15 a.m., Lastofka allegedly followed him into the driveway, striking his vehicle with a paddle from a nearby boat. She then brandished a knife, threatened self-harm, and used the knife to damage the car.
After breaking two windows to gain entry, Lastofka reportedly continued causing destruction inside. She was released from custody after posting a $2,500 cash bond. The charges against her include armed burglary, felony criminal damage to property, and disorderly conduct.
