Milton M. Laabs, age 89, of Berry Lake, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, December 30, 2023, at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay. Milton was born August 23, 1934, in Abbotsford, Wisconsin, a son of the late Alfred and Alvina (Awe) Laabs. He attended country schools and later served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1965. Upon returning from service, he started driving semi for Super Value, then drove for Klemm Tanker Truck. Following his retirement in 1998, he continued driving gravel trucks and delivery equipment on a part time basis. On December 10, 1972, he was united in marriage to the former Yolunda “Yogi”Thorne. Milton loved to do yardwork, keeping his animals, traveling, and hunting whenever he could. His home and his yard were his pride and joy.
Survivors include his wife, “Yogi” of Berry Lake; eight children, Lana (Mack) Dittman of Shawano, Darwin Laabs of Shawano, Stacey (Marty) Minnick of Arizona, Tony (Regina) Thorne of Alabama, Shawn (Katrina) Thorne of Bonduel, Jenny (Jody) Bystel of Shawano, Billy (Michelle) Laabs of Shawano, and Dan (Stephanie) Laabs of Gresham; 19 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his brother, Marlin (Priscilla) Laabs of Marshfield, WI; and several brothers and sisters-in-law. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Milton was preceded in death by his brother, Alfred Laabs; his sisters, Jeanette Jeffrey, and Joann Laabs; and two grandsons, Jacob Thorne, and Jeremy Hoff.
A time to remember and celebrate the life of Milton Laabs will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Mickelson Funeral Service in Shawano. AmVets Post #10 will conduct military honors at the funeral home at 1:00 pm.
