WITTENBERG, WI- On the afternoon of November 7th, 2023, at approximately 4:35 PM, the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office swiftly responded to a distress call concerning an ATV accident that occurred on Nightingale Road near Oak Road. The caller reported an ATV rollover incident with the driver rendered unconscious and non-responsive.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office, accompanied by multiple EMS departments, rushed to the scene. The ATV involved in the accident had only one occupant, identified as a 13-year-old male juvenile hailing from the Wittenberg area. The young individual sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the incident and was promptly transported to Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Subsequently, he was transferred to a medical facility in Marshfield. His current medical condition remains unknown.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office has been in contact with the Wittenberg-Birnamwood School District, which has been made aware of the incident. The school district is taking measures to provide necessary resources and support to their staff and students during this challenging time.
