
Norbert “Max” Lemke, age 82 of Shawano, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, October 7, 2023, at Shawano Health Services where he had been a resident for the past seven weeks. Max was born May 21, 1941, in Watertown, Wisconsin, a son of the late Erwin and Esther (Klemke) Lemke. He graduated from Northwestern Prep High School with the Class of 1959. Following high school Max attended UW-Madison, graduating from the Agriculture Short Course. He spent most of his life working in the agriculture business, however he spent his final years of employment driving semi so he could see the country. Following his retirement Max drove part-time for the Shawano Leader. On June 5, 1993, Max was united in marriage to Lois Weaver at St. Paul Lutheran Church in North Fond du Lac. The couple lived in Shawano most of their married life. Max is a member of Divine Savior Lutheran Church where he served as treasurer for twelve years and the property committee. His last church project was to install the electronic sign. Max’s hobbies included woodworking and anything John Deere.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Lemke of Shawano; two sons, James (Tracy) Lemke of Brillion, and John (special friend, Bonnie) Lemke of Kimberly; his step-children, Rochelle Weaver of
Millstadt, IL, Michael Weaver of Hitchcock, TX, and Thomas (Jamie) Weaver of Millstadt, IL; his grandchildren, Maxwell Lemke, Jordan (James) Kammueller, Lea (Michael) Wearing, Emily Lemke, Tori (Clayton) VanThiel, Tyler (special friend, Emily) Lemke; his great-grandchildren, Willow VanThiel, Onyx Wearing, and a future great-granddaughter; his brother, Richard (Deb)
Lemke of Greer, SC; three sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Donald; three brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law.
A memorial service for Max will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 11:00 am at Divine Savior Lutheran Church in Shawano. Pastor Joseph Neuberger will officiate. Visitation will begin at the church at 9:00 am and continue until the time of service.
