PULASKI, WI- A fire in downtown Pulaski has left a commercial building in ruins, with firefighters attributing the incident to a tree branch striking a power line. According to Fire Chief James Styczynski, the calamity unfolded on Thursday afternoon when a tree being removed behind the structure at W. 118 Pulaski St. made contact with the power line, triggering the blaze.
The building, which housed LaCount Auctions and A Kut Above Salon, suffered extensive damage, resulting in the loss of not only businesses but also apartments located on the upper floor. Additionally, a single-family home attached to the rear of the building was also affected.
There were no reported injuries in the incident, however, the fate of several pets remains uncertain. Four dogs were successfully rescued, while four cats remained missing as of Friday morning. Photos of the missing cats are available in an online gallery.
The aftermath of the fire prompted the temporary closure of a stretch of road in front of the building, disrupting traffic. Fortunately, the road closure was short-lived, as it reopened on Friday.
