CLINTONVILLE, WI-Jordan D. Peters, a 19-year-old resident of Clintonville, faces first-degree intentional homicide charges, as revealed by Waupaca County District Attorney Kat Turner on Monday, September 11. Peters stands accused of a fatal stabbing of his mother, 39-year-old Angela S. Zahn of Neenah. It was reported that they were traveling together in Clintonville on Labor Day, when the stabbing occurred.
Officers received an open-line 911 call from Olsen Park, where a distressed woman could be heard moaning and stating that she had been stabbed. The precise location of the caller remained elusive for Waupaca County Communications.
Sgt. Matthew Wright, a member of the Clintonville Police Department, responded to the call and discovered a man standing near a car with its driver’s side door ajar. The car was located on Memorial Circle, situated on the northwest side of the park. A woman, identified as Zahn, lay in a fetal position further down the street, near Peters.
According to details outlined in the criminal complaint, Peters confessed to the stabbing saying “I stabbed her,” before flinging a folding knife at the officer’s feet.
Life-saving efforts were attempted on Zahn. When questioned by Sgt. Wright about her alleged assailant, Zahn identified her own son, expressing, “He hates me.”
Clintonville Ambulance paramedics swiftly arrived on the scene to continue treatment. However, despite their efforts, Zahn was transported via Theda Star to ThedaCare Medical Center in Neenah, where she was tragically pronounced dead at 7:29 p.m. on September 4.
According to the report, Peters reportedly confessed to his actions. “I guess I got really angry and was thinking about the past and got to the breaking point and just stabbed her,” Peters admitted to Wright, according to the complaint. Peters also revealed that he had brought the knife with him, premeditating the act for the past year and intensively planning it over the past week.
Currently in custody on a $1 million cash bond, Peters faces a potential life sentence if convicted.
