GREEN VALLEY, WI- 150 years ago, the Town of Green Valley was formed. In March of 1873, it branched off from the Town Of Washington. This year, the anniversary is being celebrated.
“150 years is quite an accomplishment for anybody,” said Bob Krause.
The day also celebrates the Green Valley Morgan Fire Department with their annual fundraiser. “This year the funds are being raised to support wild land fire suppression. “The Green Valley Morgan Fire Company was formed in 1929 and we were incorporated in 1932,” said Jeff Engebretson.
The day is also an opportunity to revive some history. “Back in the day, we had what was called Homecoming, and we thought, let’s bring this back,” Krause said. “They used to cook chicken over fire, but this year, we are going to have a corn roast.”
The traditional Homecoming included a parade, and this year, they are having a parade again. “Hopefully we have a lot of kids out there to enjoy that.”
The night will conclude with a fireworks show from Fireworks Country.
For those looking to learn a little more about the history of Green Valley, a booth will be available in the Fire House. “This history room is going to be transported for the celebration.
The day also includes a Car Show that will include awards for the winners. The car show starts at Noon and judging will take place at 3:00pm.
