
Stevens Point, WI – The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) has announced the 29 schools honored with the Award of Excellence for 2022-23. This prestigious award recognizes schools for their exceptional sportsmanship, ethics, leadership, and character.
Among the recipients are Hortonville and Seymour High Schools, local institutions that have demonstrated outstanding dedication to fostering a positive athletic culture within their communities.
The WIAA Award of Excellence sets high standards for schools to qualify. Criteria include maintaining updated information in the WIAA School Directory, ensuring compliance with coaching requirements, holding regular meetings to discuss sportsmanship, ethics, and integrity with team captains, coaches, and athletes, and participating in sportsmanship summits and conferences.
Hortonville High School has a strong reputation for its athletic programs and community engagement. By encouraging volunteerism, the school’s teams have made a positive impact beyond the playing field.
Similarly, Seymour High School actively promotes sportsmanship and integrity within its athletic community through informational meetings and participation in sportsmanship summits.
The awards will be presented at each school’s respective district’s Area Meeting in September.
