WAUPACA, WI- An Iola man is facing charges after providing a ride for a friend that resulted in a drug overdose. 22-year-old Sawyer Mortensen was charged with first-degree reckless homicide as party to a crime.
In March, a call came in for a drug overdose in the Town of Union. The responding deputy reported that he found 27-year-old Trevor Hanson, face down on the floor. According to the report, Hanson was not breathing and did not have a pulse./
It was reported that it was Hanson’s father who found him. The investigation showed multiple phone conversations between Hanson and Mortensen and plans to drive to Milwaukee to get cocaine.
Mortensen told investigators that he drove Hanson to Milwaukee and they both ingested cocaine. The autopsy also confirmed other drugs in his system.
Mortensen posted a cash bond of $10,000 and could receive up to 40 years in prison if convicted.
