Michael E. Vandergate, age 26 of Stevens Point, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Marshfield Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Michael Ernest Vandergate was born February 26, 1997 in New London, WI, son to Terry & Karen (Bronk) Vandergate. He attended Marion Schools and later graduated from Marion High School in 2016. He also attended some programs through Clintonville Schools until he was 21 years old. Michael loved his family and his canine cuddle companions: Zena, Tanker, Oakley, & Chloie. He enjoyed playing with his Matchbox cars and following his favorite W.W.E. wrestlers on T.V. You would always find Michael outdoors, whether he was stacking wood to get ready to go camping, or hunting. He was able to take part in “Hunt of a Lifetime,” a nonprofit organization with a mission to make hunting and fishing dreams come true for folks with life threatening disabilities or illnesses. The hunt took place in Ladysmith, WI and he was able to harvest a doe, a buck, and even a bear! Michael always looked forward to camping and kayaking at the Wildlife Campground near Birnamwood, where the family had a permanent site for the last 14 years. Michael will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his love for family and friends, and his big heart.
