GRAND CHUTE, WI- One big inning was too much for Hortonville to overcome in a 5-1 loss to Whitefish Bay in the WIAA Division 1 State Championship game.
Hortonville was hoping to win their first title since 1998, instead it was the Whitefish Bay winning their first ever Spring State Championship.
After two strong pitching starts for the Polar Bears in the Quarterfinals and Semifinals, Kolden Hunter walked six batters in the first two innings, resulting in 5 runs.
Camden Kunke relieved Hunter with two outs in the second inning and kept the Polar Bears in the game, throwing 5.1 innings and allowing no runs with nine strikeouts.
The Polar Bears ended up with five hits and scored their only run on a sacrifice fly.
