
Eugene “Gene” P. Fenn, age 89, passed away Friday, October 7, 2022. A former resident of Seymour, WI and Shawano, WI, he moved to Oakdale, CA in 2011 to be closer to his daughter.
Gene was born October 20, 1932, in Green Bay, WI to Earl and Lois (Echtner) Fenn. Gene grew up in Seymour, where he graduated from Seymour High School in 1950. He then attended
Business School in Green Bay, WI for 2 ½ years. On August 21, 1954, Gene was united in marriage to the former Joyce Liethen at St. John’s Catholic Church, Seymour, WI. They were avid bowlers, followers of the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers and in their earlier years they enjoyed the family cottage on Shawano Lake. They would later live year-round on Shawano Lake for 32 years before moving to California. Gene was a licensed Insurance Agent for 20 years, Treasurer and Assistant Secretary of the Shawano Savings & Loan Association for 15 years, with a lifetime of accounting and income tax preparation. He was a past member of the Independent Insurance Agents of Wisconsin, past President of the Seymour Bowling Association, and past member of the Holy Name Society, St. John’s Catholic Church, Seymour, WI. Gene enjoyed fishing, gardening, and do-it-yourself projects.
Gene is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joyce of Oakdale, CA; by three children, Steve Fenn (Val) of Rice Lake, WI, David Fenn of Rothschild, WI, and Lori (Robert) Lubeck of Oakdale, CA; six grandchildren Susan (Jeff) Okonkowski of South Lyon, MI, Mike (Sara) Fenn of Milwaukee, WI, Taylor Fenn (Riley) of Sturgeon Lake, MN, Ryan (Jen) Glaeser of Oakdale, CA, Michael (Karli) Glaeser of Oakdale, CA and Daniel Lubeck of Oakdale, CA; and eight great grandchildren, Savannah & Jonathan Okonkowski, Aiden & Olivia Fenn, Ezekiel Glaeser, and Madison, Kendall, and Matthew Glaeser. Gene was preceded in death by his son, Thomas, (August 22, 1967 – June 21, 1977); his parents Earl & Lois (Echtner) Fenn; and his in-laws Clarence and Naureen (Komp) Liethen.
A committal service for Eugene and Joyce will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at 11:00 am at Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Pastor Moira Finley will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the
family requests donations be made in Eugene’s memory to Community Hospice Foundation, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95356.
