Many area softball teams have kicked off their season with games late last week and over the weekend.
Monday April 3
Manawa 4, St. Mary Catholic 2
FOX CROSSING, WI- Defending Conference Champion Manawa opened their season with a 4-2 win over St. Mary Catholic. Manawa scored three runs in the first inning to get off to the quick start. Ellie Stroesenreuther had a big day at the plate with a two run single, a double and two runs scored, including one on a passed ball. She finished the day 3 for 3 at the plate. Kelly Rosin had two hits. Kelsey Behnke tossed the complete game win with six strikeouts.
Kimberly 7, New London 0
New London kicked off their regular season with a tough non-conference loss to Kimberly. The Papermakers came away with 16 hits against the Bulldogs pitching. Eva Johnson led the way with 3 hits. Kenna Mix took the loss for New London, pitching three innings. Jensen Mix had two hits to lead the Bulldogs.
Green Bay Preble 4, Pulaski 2
Pulaski had trouble with Preble pitcher Katie Geydoshek who had 15 strikeouts and gave up just four hits. Nicole Berna had two of the Red Raiders hits. Mogan Vertz took the loss for Pulaski.
Neenah 3, West De Pere 1
Neenah scored twice in the seventh inning to break a 1-1 tie and held on for the win. Kyliegh Mathe had 12 strikeouts in the game. Jade Kruse had two hits with a double for West De Pere.
Fox Valley Lutheran 5, Waupaca 1
Waupaca scattered four hits including a double by Macie Studzinski in the loss. The Comets committed six errors in the game. The Comets are 2-2 on the season.

Bay Port 4, West De Pere 2
The Phantoms could not hold on to an early lead and fell to the Pirates. Bay Port took a 3-2 lead in the third inning and held on the rest of the way. Estelle Finlan pitched the complete game for Bay Port. Leah Kocken pitched four innings in relief and took the loss for West De Pere. The Phantoms had their chances, leaving 10 runners stranded.
