
Joyce E. Hoeksema, age 86 of Tigerton passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Aster Assisted Living, Clintonville, surrounded by her family.
The former Joyce E. Krueger was born on November 18, 1936, in the Town of Fairbanks, Shawano County, to Otto and Viola (Seefeldt) Krueger. Joyce attended grade school at Blue Ribbon School in the Town of Fairbanks and graduated from Tigerton High School in 1954.
Joyce was united in marriage on September 8, 1956, to Henry R. Hoeksema at Peace Lutheran Church – Split Rock. She worked at Hansen Glove Factory in Clintonville for three years. Joyce was employed at Gwidt Pharmacy in Tigerton for 24 years, until her retirement in 2000.
Joyce was a lifelong member of Peace Lutheran Church and taught Sunday school for many years. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid where she served as treasurer and crafted numerous quilts for mission projects. Joyce was Girl Scout Leader for several years and volunteered as Cookie Chairman for a number of years. Her favorite pastime was playing cards and Yahtzee with her children and grandchildren. She especially loved big family gatherings with everyone together.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Henry; and four children, Cheryl (William) Tauferner of Tigerton, Jeffrey (Angela) Hoeksema of De Pere, Dawn Gold of Verona, and Raymond (Peggy) Hoeksema of Marathon. There are 11 grandchildren: Ryan (Terrie) Tauferner, Scott (Jamie) Tauferner, Adam (Amanda) Tauferner, Andrea (Aaron) Moede, Kevin (Laura) Hoeksema, Michael (Melissa Lindquist) Gold, Jacob (Vanessa) Hoeksema, Tyler (Emily) Gold, Kellie (fiancé Scotty Gerben) Hoeksema, Laci Hoeksema, and Cooper Hoeksema. There are 13 great grandchildren: Kaylee, Riley, Addisyn, Delaney, Allison, Charlotte, August, Cara, Claire, Ames, Mila, Ava, and Arris. She is further survived by a sister, Lorna Alberg of Weston; two sisters-in-law, Carole Krueger of Caroline and Kay Krueger of Tigerton; and many other relatives and friends.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, David Gold; two brothers, Duane Krueger and Gerald Krueger; a brother-in-law, Robert Alberg; and a nephew, Michael Alberg.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 7th at 11:00 AM at Peace Lutheran Church – Split Rock. Rev. Jim Folz will officiate and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until time of service at the church. Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Tigerton, is assisting the family.
