
Leo “Sam” Wudstrack, age 71 of Tigerton passed away at his home on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Leo Clarence Wudstrack was born on September 11, 1951, in Shawano to Albert and Dorothy (Begrow) Wudstrack. Sam grew up in the Town of Grant, Shawano County, and attended Valley View School through the 3rd grade. Then he went on to school in Tigerton and graduated from Tigerton High School in 1969. Sam was united in marriage on April 5, 1975, to Joyce A. Roth at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Birnamwood.
In 1974 Sam purchased the dairy farm in the Town of Fairbanks, Shawano County. He was also employed at Marion Body Works Inc. for 45 years. He started out as a welder and ended up serving as a Commercial Production Leadman for many years. Sam retired from Marion Body but never retired from farming. Even during his illness, he continued to help out on the family farm.
Sam was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Town of Grant, and served in the past as an usher and as a church elder. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and making firewood. Sam liked working the land, especially on his John Deere tractor. He will be remembered most for his excellent sense of humor and his strong determined personality. Sam loved spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Joyce, and three children, Julie (fiancé Jason Severson) Wudstrack of Tigerton, Lee (Heather) Wudstrack of Tigerton, and Lance (Rachel) Wudstrack of Shawano. There are five grandchildren: Logan, Nathan, Natalie, Jared, and Josh. There are five siblings: Florence Giessel of Tilleda, Otto (Rosie) Wudstrack of Tigerton, Edward (Susann) Wudstrack of Marion, LeRoy (Susan) Wudstrack of Tigerton, Eldora (Steven) Whitehouse of Two Rivers. He is further survived by a sister-in-law, Judith Wudstrack of Green Bay, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harold and Lawrence “Smiley” Wudstrack; a brother-in-law, Eugene Giessel; and a niece, Rebecca Wudstrack.
Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, November 13th at 3:00 PM at St. John Lutheran Church, Town of Grant. Rev. Clifford Kessen will officiate and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at the church.
