GREEN BAY, WI- A Brown County judge has found a 25-year-old man accused of shooting his father during an argument is competent to stand trial. Sedric King is pleading not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect. He faces a charge of attempted first-degree intentional homicide. Investigators say King shot Dennis James in the hip at a home in Ashwaubenon on March 16th, 2020. The court determined he couldn’t understand the proceedings or help in his own defense last December. With treatment, he is now legally competent and the trial can proceed. No trial date has been set.
