SHAWANO, WI- County HHH will be closed to through traffic from August 8 to approximately November 4 as work on the project got underway this week. Traffic will be detoured along County H (Lake Dr) to Highway 47/55 to Highway 22 (Green Bay St). Temporary traffic signals will be in use at the Highway 47/55 and County H (Lake Dr) intersection for the duration of the project. County HHH will be open to access businesses along CTH HHH south of the project to Gumaer Rd and to Homewood Ave north of the project.
The channel under County HHH will be closed at times from August 15 to August 19 during driving of piling for the north abutment. Boat passage will not be possible during pile driving operations due to safety concerns. Once pile driving is completed the passage will be open. If unsure, please get the attention of one of the workers to be sure it is safe to pass through. There is turbidity barrier on the north side of the channel, this has to be in place during excavating operations per the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Please take care to avoid the turbidity barrier.
Crews will complete excavation for the north abutment, drive sheet piling for west retaining wall cofferdam, drive piling for the north abutment and start building the work platform to build the pier.
The existing bridge deck has been removed, existing north abutment has been removed, temporary signals have been installed at Highway 47/55 and County H, detour has been set up and excavation/dredging for the north abutment has started.
