Drowning In Marion

MARION, WI- A Milwaukee man drowned in a pond Tuesday afternoon. Marion Police and the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department were called out to Marion Mill Pond at Lions Point Park around 3:00pm. A 59-year-old Milwaukee Man was removed from the water and pronounced deceased at the scene two hours later. Officials say the man was trying to recover a swimming tube for his grandchildren and waded into the water over his head. It was also reported that the man could not swim. According to police, the man’s wife attempted to rescue him, but was not able to. The Shawano County Dive Team was called to assist in the effort.
