Richard “Rick” Bankes, age 47 of Shawano passed away Saturday, June 18, 2022, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Appleton.
Richard Duaine Bankes was born on August 29, 1974, at Clintonville Hospital to Lucy Malueg-Bankes. Rick attended school in Tigerton and never missed a day of class; he graduated from Tigerton High School in May of 1994. In his younger days, Rick liked helping out on his grandparents’ farm. He also enjoyed getting together with Mike and Michelle Michaelis: and loved them like a brother and sister. Back around 1997, his family moved to Shawano, and he kept busy with all sorts of projects that he worked hard on. Rick had a good friend, Jerry Thun of Sheboygan, and they did everything together. Jerry was always an excellent father figure to Rick.
Survivors include his mother, Lucy Bankes; one sister, Karri Hoefferle; and a special friend, Mike Ternouth, all of Shawano. He is further survived by an aunt, Nancy (Dale Selle Sr.) Michaelis of Tigerton; a cousin, Mike (fiancée Amy Strelow) Michaelis of Tigerton; a great aunt, Betty Brevik of Iola; and many other relatives and friends.
Rick was preceded in death by his grandparents, Kenneth and Elaine Malueg; his great grandparents, Louis and Dorothy Malueg; an uncle, Loryn Michaelis; and his cousin, Michelle Menge.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 22nd at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, Tigerton. Rev. Dean Suehring will officiate and burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Tigerton. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of service at the church.
