OCONTO, WI-The names of the officer and the victim involved in last week’s shooting in Oconto County have been released by authorities. 27-year-old Dakota Coleman was shot by Sgt. Jordan Longsine on Highway 41 after an incident on June 8th.
Authorities say a confrontation took place after several people reported a reckless driver on Highway 41. According to the report, Longsine pulled the vehicle over and the passenger inside the vehicle got out of the vehicle with a knife.
Investigators say Coleman, the passenger, approached Longsine and ignored commands. That resulted in Longsine shooting Coleman, who died at the scene.
The driver was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.
No members of law enforcement were injured.
Longsine remains on investigative leave, as is the policy of the sheriff’s department.
