
Dorothy F. Hille, age 97 of Tigerton passed away Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Cherry Meadows Hospice, Appleton.
The former Dorothy Frederica Kriegel was born on December 13, 1924, in Tigerton to George and Alvina (Kohn) Kriegel. She was united in marriage on November 24, 1945, to Ervin “Cappy” Hille in Pella. In her early days, she worked as a nurse’s aide at the Tigerton Hospital for close to 10 years. Dorothy went on UW Stevens Point and Antigo Normal Teachers College, receiving her Bachelor’s in Education. She taught Special Education at Tigerton Elementary School for a few years.
Dorothy was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church, Tigerton. In her early years, she bowled on several local leagues and liked watching her husband play baseball. The couple enjoyed keeping up their yard and working in their flower and vegetable garden. Dorothy’s favorite pastime was sewing, making clothes for her family, and creating beautiful embroidery work. For many years she won ribbons at the Shawano County Fair for her embroidered items. Her husband preceded her on January 5, 2005.
Survivors include a son, James Hille of Rancho Mirage, CA; one granddaughter, Amanda (Jason) Bent of Tumecula, CA; and two great grandchildren, Wyatt and Audrey. She is further survived by a brother-in-law, Fred Peterson of Oconto Falls; a sister-in-law, Marcella Hille of Tigerton; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Cappy; a daughter, Pamela (Glenn) Bertino; four siblings, Gordon (Grace) Kriegel, Herbert (Gloria) Kriegel, Harvey (Virginia) Kriegel, and Geraldine Peterson; and four in-laws, Arthur (Ruth) Hille, Ella (Lester) Forrest, Martin Hille, and Robert (Betty) Hille.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 9th at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, Tigerton, with Rev. Sharon Fox-Bogen officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of service at the church. Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Tigerton, is assisting with the arrangements.
