The former Clerk of Courts for Marshfield is free on bond in a theft case involving missing money from city accounts. Susan Carlson signed a five-thousand-dollar signature bond on Monday but no further court action was scheduled in the case as she’s requested a new judge. The city has acknowledged that they’ve lost thousands in the alleged scheme, adding that they have insurance to cover such instances and are looking to make a claim. City Administrator Steve Barg says no one at City Hall was aware of what was happening until the new clerk discovered irregularities on the books, leading to the investigation.
