
Elaine M. Erickson, age 77 of Tigerton passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 26, 2022.
The former Elaine Marie Hoffmann was born on April 9, 1944, on the home farm in the Town of Germania, Shawano County, to Leonard and Genevieve (Liesch) Hoffmann Sr. She graduated from Tigerton High School in 1962. Elaine was united in marriage on April 20, 1968, to Gary T. Erickson at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Tigerton. After marriage the couple lived in the Milwaukee area for several years before returning to Tigerton. Elaine was a rural route mail carrier for the Tigerton area for over 33 years, retiring in 2004. Her husband preceded her in death on May 25, 2010.
Elaine was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church, Tigerton, where she served with the Christian Women’s Guild and as a Greeter. She was very active at church attending bible study groups, doing quilting projects, helping with funeral luncheons, and volunteering at Bethesda in Wausau. Elaine was also a dedicated and selfless volunteer with the Tigerton Main Street program.
She enjoyed working in her garden and sharing the produce with friends around her. She loved taking care of her large flower garden and harvesting special fruits like raspberries, blueberries, grapes, and apples. Elaine liked feeding and watching the birds, working on crossword puzzles, word finds, and completing jig saw puzzles. She enjoyed playing the slot machines at casinos and playing sheepshead and cribbage four times a week at card club. She also liked to travel, mostly going on bus trips. Elaine loved spending time with her grandkids and will be remembered most as active and independent lady.
Survivors include one daughter, April (John) Heideman of Sugar Bush; and three grandchildren, Sarah, Maureen, and Henry Heideman. She is also survived by one sister, Mary Ziegenhagen of Tigerton; a sister-in-law, Annette (Chuck) Sambs of Tigerton; and a brother-in-law, Randy (Dawn) Neubauer of Two Rivers. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gary; one sister, Adeline (Zane) Miller; three brothers, John, Robert, and Leonard “Joe” Hoffmann; and two brothers-in-law, Don (Donna) Erickson and Ray Ziegenhagen.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 2nd at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, Tigerton. Rev. Dean Suehring will officiate and burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Tigerton. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until time of service at the church.
