OCONTO, WI- Who needs ornaments on a Christmas tree or yet another wrapped sweater when you can hit the trails on your snow machine? Oconto County officials say four snowmobile trails will be open to riders on Christmas Eve. They say a few sections of the Red Arrow, Paul Bunyan, Iron Snowshoe, and Chute Pond trails will remain closed. More snow is needed there. The Nicolet State Trail is the only one open south of Mountain between Suring and Forest County. Clubs and volunteers have been working hard. The machines will start roaring at noon Friday.
