Wayne V. Thoma, age 84 of Tigerton passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at Cherry Meadows Hospice, Appleton.
Wayne Vernon Thoma was born on August 6, 1937, in Evanston, Illinois, to Vernon and Ora (Poehlman) Thoma. As a young child his family moved to Wisconsin and settled in the Sugar Bush area. In his early days, Wayne liked spending time outdoors and deer hunting with his dad. After high school he worked at Neenah Foundry for several years. Wayne was united in marriage on August 22, 1959, to Elaine M. Schultz at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Town of Morris. The couple settled on a dairy farm in the Town of Morris, Shawano County. Over the years, he had pigs, sheep, horses, chickens, and lots of other animals. Even after he sold the cows Wayne continued planting crops and doing field work. Wayne and Elaine also raised Border Collies for many years.
Wayne is a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Town of Morris. He is a charter member of the Embarrass River Lions Club and enjoyed playing Santa for the kids for a number of years. When the kids were in 4H he loved helping show animals at the County Fair each year. Wayne had a good sense of humor, was friendly, and could easily talk to anyone.
