Ervin H. “2115” Reinke, age 89, passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021. He was born on January 28, 1932, to the late Albert and Hertha (Wudtke) Reinke, Sr. On August 22, 1956, Ervin was united in marriage to Genevieve “Gena” DeBauch in Gillett. Ervin farmed the very land where he was born all his life. Ervin and his brother, Albert, did field work together often sharing and buying machines to do it. Ervin hunted whenever he had the time. During the summer he spent time training hounds to run bear. During the fall, he was bear, coon, and deer hunting; winter was bobcat, fox and coyote. He was always waiting for that fresh snow. When the snow was bad, he was ice fishing on a dozen or more different lakes. Mom used to say, “if Dad put all that time into farming as he did in hunting, they would be millionaires”.
Ervin is survived by his sons; Dan Reinke and David Reinke, sister and brother, Florence Rueckert and Harvey (Judy) Reinke, and a sister-in-law Pauline Reinke.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve, his parents, four siblings: Maynard in infancy, Richard (Maxine), Albert Jr., and Helen (Joe) Bluma, as well as a brother-in-law, Wallin Rueckert.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Zachow, Pastor Virgil Hanson officiating. Burial will be in Angelica at Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30am until the time of service at the church on Thursday. Swedberg Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
