MARINETTE, WI- (Wisconsin Radio Network) – It wasn’t a strike, but more than two dozen employees of Fincantieri Marine were marching for bigger paychecks in downtown Marinette Wednesday. Union members at Local Boilermakers 696 say they make less money than workers at local retail businesses. The union says more than 200 people have quit in the last two years because their paychecks are too small. The company says it has reached an agreement with the union that will be voted on next month by the workers. The protesters said they have received no raises in the last two years while the cost of their health insurance jumped up by 19 percent. They’ve been working without a contract since July of 2020.
