SHAWANO, WI- Shawano County Sheriff Adam Beiber says he will not be requiring his employees at the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office to show proof of Vaccination for COVID-19.
A recent mandate issued by President Biden was mandating employers who have 100 or more employees to show proof of being vaccinated or proof of frequent negative COVID-19 tests.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office has 118 employees.
“To put it simply, your medical decisions should rest solely with you,” Bieber said. I’ve had many citizens and employees of the Sheriff’s Office ask if they will be required to get the Covid-19 vaccine. I’m often surprised when I’m asked because I generally think most folks understand my position on social issues as I have a tendency to let everyone know exactly where I stand. I have always and will continue to support our Bill of Rights, our Constitution, the legislative process, and the principles found in our Declaration of Independence, Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.”
Bieber said similar mandates issued by Governor Evers and others have been deemed illegal and unenforceable.
“The recent mandate by the President should also be struck down and not enforced,” Bieber added. “There are times in history when we must protect our individual rights and just say no to those leaders who overstep their authority. We are a government of Laws, and not of men.”
Bieber said he would encourage all employers within Shawano County to proceed with caution before acting on the mandate.
“We know that even if vaccinated one can still become infected and can still spread the virus. I fully support the individuals’ right to understand and make their own decision on this matter. Furthermore, I would encourage everyone in Shawano County to be the healthiest version of themselves. For those who have weakened immune systems or are not healthy, I would encourage you to take precautions and preventative measures to protect themselves.”
