WITTENBERG, WI- A Greenville man has died and three others were injured after a camper that was being pulled, blew a tire, causing a rollover and fire, Friday evening in Shawano County.
Crews were called out to Highway 29 and Highway 45 in Wittenberg just before 5pm.
It was determined that the vehicle pulling the camper was traveling westbound on Highway 29 and noticed that the camper had a blown tire as they were approaching the Highway 45 Clintonville exit. The driver lost control and rolled, leading to a fire in both the vehicle and camper.
A 57-year old Greenville woman and two young boys from Clintonville suffered injuries, including burns. They were all airlifted to the hospital. Several citizens stopped at the scene to assist getting the three from the burning vehicle.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but authorities believe it is related to the blown tire and not alcohol or drugs.
