Cheryl J. Lehman, age 77, of Tigerton passed away Thursday, August 12, 2021, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center – Appleton.
The former Cheryl Jean Griepentrog was born on July 26, 1944, in Tigerton to George and Serena “Judy” (McFarlane) Griepentrog. She grew up in the Tigerton area and graduated from Tigerton High School in 1962. Cheryl was united in marriage on July 30, 1966, to Robert L. Lehman at Zion Lutheran Church, Tigerton. The couple dairy farmed for well over 40 years in the Town of Germania, Shawano County. For some time, Cheryl volunteered at the Tigerton Clinic taking folks blood pressure. She also served for many years as an election worker with the Town of Germania.
Cheryl was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church, Tigerton, where she was active with all sorts of projects with the Ladies Aid. For many years she taught catechism, helped with funeral luncheons, and served on the Sunshine Committee.
Cheryl often enjoyed putting on a large meal for family gatherings. She liked playing solitaire, working on crossword puzzles, listening to country and gospel music, and watching cooking shows. Cheyl was involved for a number of years locally as a group leader with Take Pounds Off Sensibly (TOPS). She also volunteered countless hours with the Tigerton Community Cupboard – Food Pantry. Cheryl certainly loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Bob; and five children, Lori (David) Grunewald, Rob Lehman, Debbie (Kevin) Wendt, Mary (Brent) Smith, and Dennis (Holly) Lehman. There are 11 grandchildren: Jenni (Doug), Jeff, Mike (Jess), Adam (Brooke), Angie (Eddie), Emily (Jay), Kyle (fiancée Leah), Serena, Colleen, Roselyn, and Kayson. There are 8 great grandchildren: Lexi, Austin, Ethan, Gavin, Evie, Jameson, Amelia, and Marshall. There is one brother, Jay Griepentrog; four sisters-in-law, Lori Griepentrog, Ann Griepentrog, Leah Lehman, and Bernice Lehman; and one brother-in-law, Don (Mary) Lehman. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, James Grunewald; a great granddaughter, Natalie Grunewald; one sister LaVonne (Gerald) Wuske; and three brothers, Warren, Randy, and Glenn Griepentrog. She was further preceded by two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth (Stanley) Miller and Mary Jean (Sidney) Mathes; and five brothers-in-law, Lester (Eva), Victor, Wallace, Forest (Kura), and Herbert Lehman.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 17th at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, Tigerton. Rev. Dean Suehring will officiate and burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Tigerton. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until time of service at the church. Please consider a memorial in Cheryl’s memory to St. John Lutheran Church.
