SHAWANO, WI- The Shawano Menominee County Health Department says that their first community COVID-19 vaccination clinic was a success, and shortly after launching it, they were able to vaccinate just under 2,000 people.
“In our short time for this service, just under 2,000 people were vaccinated. The
positive feedback and appreciation from those who received the vaccine created positive energy that flowed
throughout this clinic time,” said Shawano/Menominee County Health Officer Theresa Harmala.
The statement from the health department indicated that they are completing their vaccination clinic process since more providers are opening.
“This pandemic has brought the opportunity for all of us to work together!”
The Health Department recently announced they are following the latest guidance from the CDC, identifying that fully vaccinated people can resume pre-COVID-19 activities without the use of a mask or social distancing.
A person is considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 if it has been two or
more weeks since they got the second dose in a two-dose series (such as Pfizer or Moderna), or one dose of a
single-dose vaccine (such as Johnson & Johnson).
There are some exceptions to the masking guidance including healthcare settings, K-12 schools, places where masks are required by law, residents and employees of correctional and detention facilities and homeless shelters, and public transportation could all still have masking rules.
“Mask wearing, regardless of vaccination status, continues to be an important COVID-19 mitigation
strategy.”
“We are still moving in uncharted waters. We must also be mindful that while many of our businesses
may be privately owned, each organization may also be bound by their own governing bodies or licensing
associations. We are not done yet!”
