LITTLE CHUTE, WI- (Wisconsin Radio Network) – Fox Valley Metro police say an alarming 9-1-1 call about family violence turned out to be a prank call. It’s called “swatting.” Authorities were informed about a family disturbance that had resulted in a death. Officers were told a suspect was armed with a rifle and explosives and planned to confront officers when they arrived. The neighborhood around the home was secured and people were told to shelter in place. When contact was made, it was apparent the call was a fake, in an effort to create a large police presence. Police say they are investigating to determine who made the call so they can be charged.
