
Alice A. Rosenow, age 86, of Bowler, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2021, under Aspirus Hospice Care at the Homme Home of Wittenberg where she was a resident for 17 days.
The former Alice Arlene Dankmeyer was born on July 16, 1934, in Tigerton, Wisconsin, to the late August Dankmeyer and Clarissa (Meacham) Dankmeyer. She was a 1953 graduate of Tigerton High School. On May 7, 1955, Alice was united in marriage to Clifford E. Rosenow at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Tigerton. They farmed in rural Bowler and raised three sons: Randy, Roger, and Rod. They enjoyed 51 years of marriage until Cliff’s passing in 2007.
Alice was a homemaker and tended large gardens and canned vegetables, fruits, and pickles; collected, cooked, and canned maple syrup; decorated cakes; sewed clothes for her family and made several quilts; crocheted numerous afghans and baptismal gowns and baby blankets; crocheted dozens of baby sweaters and blankets for Lutheran World Relief kits as well as lap blankets to be given out to residents at nursing homes. Alice also served the Bowler School District in the kitchen as a baker, server and cook. She enjoyed making cookies, bread, rolls, and serving the students for nine years.
Alice is survived by one son, Roger (Susan) Rosenow; brother, Bill Dankmeyer; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister’s-in-law: Jeanette Rekow, Evelyn Rosenow and Karen Rosenow; nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and other relatives. She enjoyed visiting with her friends at Shawano Lake and indulged in many cookouts, picnics, and nights around a firepit.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cliff; sons, Randy, and Rod; brothers: LeRoy, Jack, Donald, twins Milton and Merton, in infancy; sisters, Phyllis and Juanita.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, April 20th at 1:00 PM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Bowler. Rev. Mark Hesse will officiate and burial will be at Union Cemetery, Tigerton. Visitation with be held on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.
