SHAWANO, WI-The Shawano Police Department has promoted Officer Scott Ruen, Officer Ryan Atkinson, Officer Michelle Kamba, and Officer Brian Burkel to the rank of Sergeant. They took their public oath Wednesday at the Shawano Council meeting. Combined, they have over 50 years of combined law enforcement experience.
Police Sergeants are first-line supervisors on the street. They serve a pivotal role in communication between administration and patrol officers. Shawano Police Department added the Sergeant positions to the structure to make the police department a more efficient and effective provider of services to the community.
