
Mary A. Lutzewitz, age 75, of Marion was granted her wings and joined the other angels in heaven on Sunday, March 7, 2021. She is finally at peace from many years of battling illness after illness.
The former Mary Agnes Scarrah was born on May 21, 1945 in Oconto, Wisconsin, to Laurence and Charlotte (Reimer) Scarrah. She graduated in 1963 from Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac. Mary entered the U.S. Army where she served as a nurse. After the military she returned to Appleton where she met the love of her life Ronald L. Lutzewitz. They were married on October 2, 1971 in Caroline. The couple settled in Marion where she tended bar for a number of years at Prime Time Bar & Grill. For many years, Mary was the local Avon Representative and she formed lots of lifelong friendships.
Mary was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Town of Dupont. The couple enjoyed bowling on several area leagues and going fishing up north on Pelican Lake whenever possible. The couple also liked softball; Ron played it and Mary kept score for the team. Mary loved being a mother and wife and later a grandmother.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Ron; and three daughters, Jenny (Jim) Rice of Ohio; Julie (Clyde) Meller of Michigan, and Michelle “Shelly” (friend Ben Gebert) Michonski of Marion. There are four grandchildren, Emily and Allyson Rice, Alyssa Meller, and Mace LaCanne. There are three siblings, Robert Scarrah of Green Bay, Betsy (Elwyn) Suehring of Amherst Junction, and Gloria (Denny) Resch of Antigo. She is further survived by one brother-in-law, Karl (Elsie) Lutzewitz of Marion; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her mother-in-law, Doris (Seefeldt) Schlender; and a younger brother, Gary Kaminski.
Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 19th at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Town of Dupont, with Pastor Karen Reimer officiating. Military Honors will be provided at the church by members of the American Legion Post #198 of Marion. Visitation will be on Friday from 9:00 AM until time of service at the church.
