
Duane “Duke” Drews, age 77 of Shawano, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay. Duke was born on May 19, 1943, to the late Ervin and Selma (Lange) Drews. Duke graduated from Shawano High School in 1961. He grew up and worked on the family farm in Belle Plaine and enjoyed logging. Duke purchased The Launching Pad in 1984 and operated it up until his retirement. He was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Duke was known for sharing his stories of the outdoors with others. He enjoyed spending his time deer hunting, splitting wood, bowling, and being involved in fast pitch soft ball. Duke was known by many in the community and will be dearly missed by family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.
Duke is survived by his sister-in-law, Bernice Drews, as well as many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Delores Schutt, Darlene Estes, and Mavis Pedersen; one brother, Ray Drews; and one nephew, Randy Pedersen.
Visitation for Duke will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano. Private family services will be held at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine with Rev. Kurt Kluge officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Due to COVID-19 masks will be required.
