MADISON, WI – (Wisconsin Radio Network) – A coronavirus response bill just passed by Republicans in the Wisconsin Assembly seems to have a bleak future. Republicans in the Senate don’t like it. And, even if the legislation managed to get legislative approval, Democratic Governor Tony Evers would be expected to veto it. The governor and Democratic lawmakers have their own package of bills that Republicans won’t support. The Wisconsin Legislature hasn’t passed anything addressing the coronavirus pandemic since April and recent talks between the governor and Republican leadership didn’t produce any agreement. Assembly Speaker Robin Vos says he is still hopeful the Senate will take up his legislation which earned approval Thursday.
