
Alfred R. “Al” Teetzen, age 93 of Shawano, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, January 3, 2021 in Shawano.
Al was born May 21, 1927 in the Town of Richmond, a son of the late Charles and Elsie (Wendorff) Teetzen. He attended country schools in the Town of Richmond, and later Shawano High School, graduating with the class of 1945. Following high school, Al worked on the family farm. On March 2, 1957, he was united in marriage to the former Shirley Riege at St. John Lutheran Church in the Town of Grant. The couple lived in the Town of Richmond until moving to Shawano in 1964. Shirley preceded Alfred in death on November 16, 2020.
Over the years, Al worked as a factory worker at Phenix, cut and installed glass at Dearco, delivered furniture and installed draperies at Muehls, and worked maintenance at Birch Hill Care Center. Following his retirement, he worked maintenance at Zion Lutheran Church where he is also a member. Al worked hard all his life, and in his spare time he enjoyed refinishing furniture, woodworking, painting, and watching football.
Survivors include his children, Toni (Wes) Bucholz of Shawano and Alan (Patricia) Teetzen of Wausau; his favorite granddaughter, Melissa (Dylan) Seefeldt; grandchildren, Patrick (Keturah) Teetzen, Danielle (JD) Beall, Samantha Teetzen, Amanda (Kegen) Parnell, and Jarod Bucholz; great-grandchildren, Jacob Beall, Andromeda and Kharma Seefeldt, Maggie Teetzen, Liam and Tyler Gibbs, Jaylen, Kensley, and Harper Parnell; his brothers, Marlyn Teetzen and Dr. Merle Teetzen; his sister, Ruth Korth; sisters-in-law, Carol and Shirley Teetzen; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Al was preceded in death by his brothers, Curtis and Willis Teetzen; his brother-in-law, Irv Korth; and his sister-in-law, Kathy Teetzen.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred in Al’s name to Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano.
