SHAWANO, WI- The Shawano School board election got quite a bit of interest, enough so that primary elections will need to be held for all three seats.
Seven candidates turned in completed paperwork for the three seats that will be for election in April. Since all three seats have more than two candidates, a primary election will be held on February 16 to narrow the race down to the top two candidates for each seat. Those races will then take place in April to determine who will sit on the board.
Board President and Area 4 representative Tyler Schmidt filed non-candidacy papers as he decided not to seek re-election. Bruce Milivitz, the current At-Large board member also decided not to run again as he will focus his attention on a mayoral campaign for the city of Shawano.
Area 1 School Board representative Chuck Dallas did turn in papers for re-election and will face some opposition in the upcoming Primary.

The Primary on February 16th will narrow each race down to two candidates for the April election.
With some candidates running for two seats it opens the possibility for one candidate to win two elections. If that is the case, the candidate will choose which seat they want to accept.
Every voter in the Shawano School District will get to vote for all three seats in the upcoming elections.
