Dawn M. Verg, age 64, of Caroline passed away Friday, December 11, 2020 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Appleton.
The former Dawn Marie Fournier was born on February 4, 1956 in Clintonville to Leonard and Ardis (Malueg) Fournier. She grew up in the Town of Dupont and graduated from Marion High School in 1974. Dawn attended UW-Green Bay for her general classes and then went on to Bellin College of Nursing to receive her bachelor’s degree. She was united in marriage on July 2, 1977 to Steve A. Verg at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Big Falls.
Dawn worked at the Clintonville Community Hospital in the Emergency Room or the Maternity Unit for many years, until it closed in the early 1990’s. Then she was employed for over 20 years as Director of Nursing at Greentree Health & Rehabilitation Center, Clintonville, until 2013. She was a floor nurse at St. Joseph Residence, New London, for a few years. Dawn finished her career as Director of Nursing for three years at Maple Lane Health Services, Shawano; retiring this past October. Her husband preceded her in death on September 25, 2019.
Dawn was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church, Caroline. She enjoyed many annual family vacations at Walt Disney World in Orlando. Dawn often watched sports, whether it was the Packers, Brewers, or Badgers. She loved to read fictitious novels; her beagle retriever mix Nevada; and action films, especially old John Wayne movies. Dawn cherished the time spent with her family and extended family. She was always so dedicated to her work and doing her best to help others.
Survivors include two children, Wendy (Lee) Hangartner and Lee (Kayla) Verg. There is one sister, Rosie (Jack) Bazile, and one brother-in-law, Terry (Jill) Verg. There are four nephews: Travis (Kim) Verg, Cody (Summer) Verg, Shawn (Kathy) Bazile, and Shane (Amy) Bazile. There are eight great nieces and nephews: Alexis, Jaxon, Owen, Miles, Brooks, Dakota, Cheyenne, and Bridget. She is further survived by many other relatives and friends.
Dawn was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Ardis Fournier; her husband Steve; a sister-in-law Cheryl Verg; and her father and mother-in-law, Ken and Doris Verg.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 17th at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, Caroline. Rev. Craig Nehring will officiate and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 AM until time of service at the church. Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Marion, is assisting with the arrangements.
